The EZ Brite Lights system is not a plastic polish or wax.  It is a ten step process that will remove the damaged plastic to restore clarity, illumination, photometry and optical qualities to your damaged plastic headlights and then refinish them, with an advanced formula resurfacer that will adhere to polycarbonate plastic, for long lasting protection.  You should expect one to two years of protection, depending on driving habits.  By following our easy maintenance program, you can expect many more years of protection and clarity.

Clear plastic headlights started seeing use in automobiles in the last 70's and early 80's but did not receive wide acceptance until the 1990's.  Now every car manufactured has clear plastic headlight lenses.  The problem is that unlike glass lenses, plastic lenses have an average lifespan of only three years before they start to wear and become cloudy.  This results in a very unsafe condition and puts many drivers at great risk during night time driving.

When plastic headlight lenses wear due to exposure to harsh weather conditions (UV rays, acid rain, chemicals and road debris, etc) it starts to breakdown and become cloudy.  At first it may be barely noticeable, but quickly it progresses and spreads to the entire lens enveloping it in a thick fog that actually reduces light output.  There are actually people out there that must drive with their high beams on all the time just to see as their headlights have become so cloudy and dim that the regular lights are unsafe.

According to the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, upwards of seventy percent of vehicles on the road today have some degree of lighting or illumination blockage due to these compromised cloudy headlights.  That means seven out of every ten vehicles on the road today are causing greater risk of an accident for both the driver and other drivers that may not see them as well due to poor illumination.  It is also a fact that a large portion of serious night time accidents occur due to improper vision and illumination due to bad or cloudy headlights.

Florida actually has a law that requires all headlights to emit a certain amount of light:  Florida Statute 316 section 237.  According to this law, headlights on low beams should be intense enough to cast light on people and cars at a distance of one hundred and fifty feet.  With cloudy damaged headlights you will be lucky to get sixty feet.  According to the NHTSA the material auto manufactures use in headlights must resist hazing for three years only.  After that it is up to the owner to repair or replace them.
